The Sandburg Art Department continued its excellent work in the community during December, as it was involved with two outstanding events.
First, former Century Middle School students currently enrolled in AP Art went back to their alma mater with Mr. McCabe to visit Century Art classes. Sandburg students shared the work they have completed for their AP portfolios and shared some of their experiences in the art curriculum at Sandburg, along with future goals in the arts. Each student presented their personal works to the classes and then met with smaller groups of students to discuss elements of their work and share insights into the design and production process. Century Art teacher Susan Berry and Century staff were awesome in welcoming Sandburg students, and students from both Sandburg and Century shared how positive their experiences were.
Sandburg Art students continued to share their work with the community at the State Farm Art show in Palos Heights on December 4th, held in conjunction with the Stagg Art department. Over 100 student works were on display, as students, families, and community members were able to see the great work of our Art students. A special thanks to the local businesses who sponsored the event, as well as the Art staff and students at Sandburg and Stagg for making this event another success in its second year. The Sandburg Art staff is excited to continue the positive work taking place in the community during the second semester.
