Mary Michaelson started her teaching career in District 230 in 1989. She has taught many classes over the years but
primarily teaches A.P. Studio Art, Art & Design, Advertising Art, Beginning Drawing, Advanced Drawing, Jewelry,
Painting and Independent Study.
Mary was the recipient of two Earthwatch grants, allowing her to participate in archaeological digs in France and Spain.
Her art is in the permanent collection at Columbia College and numerous homes in the Chicagoland area.
Mary has exhibited her art in galleries and colleges throughout the mid-west.
Mary has taken students on tours around the world, including China, Italy and New York City. This summer she will take a group to France and Spain. She represents Sandburg on the Illinois High School Art Exhibition Committee and the Senior Portfolio Committee.
